Saint Cards

by Susan Shie

I no longer make these, but you can still look at them. Think of this page as a museum record of one of my former projects!

I made each of these laminated cards from a photo I took of one of the painted and for sale Saint Q images I've made, copied with my printer, hand written on the back, including being individually numbered and signed, and laminated in my Magic Lammie. Jeepers, I can't believe I did all that for $5.50 each! Those were the days!

Lucky's Collectible Laminated Saint Cards:

St Quilta Tray #2 © Susan Shie 1998.Order # S-1: "St. Quilta the Comforter Blesses This Space."

This card is of St Q from the hand painted little trays I made in March, 98. On the tray, so also on the card, it says "Saint Quilta the Comforter Blesses This Space." On her dress is written "Miracle Worker" and in her halo it says "Cherishing." In the border I wrote "Peace" and "Happiness." St. Q has her everpresent Fiesta Ware teacup and saucer of compassion on her head, and is holding her holy pincushion. (It is said that she can spontaneously appear wherever a tomato pincushion is found.) St. Quilta wears her favorite turquoise mumu with blue polka dots. Her cat Tulip and a prosperity peapod sit on her table with her magic teapot.

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On the back I've written by hand on each card: "Saint Quilta watches over you." I have also hand written the card's number, title, my signature, and the date I made it. I have turtle stamps on the back also, for Turtle Moon. The images are from Trays #s 2, 4, and 6.

Order # S-2: "Saint Quilta the Comforter Dances Her Famous Kitchen Blessing Fiesta" St Quilta the Comforter Dances Her Famous Kitchen Blessing Fiesta,#6. ©Susan Shie 1998.

Here are the newest cards, as of May! I think the El Cinco de Mayo festival combined with all my thoughts about The Kitchen Tarot, to produce this new image! All kinds of kitchen utensils, sewing and artist's tools dance along with St Q!! And a happy goddess gives her approval to the whole shabang! On the back of each card, I write "Saint Quilta blesses this kitchen." Of course, I also hand sign, number, and date the cards.

This might be a good image to hang in the kitchen, so you always have some accompanyment while you work!!! A great birthday or houseblessing present!

3 5/8" x 4 7/8" plus laminated edges.

This card is made from the new paintings I made in July, 98. St. Q wears her new blue polka dot apron over her new lime muu-muu and her orange Fiesta Ware teacup hat. She has her cat, wine, hot water bottle, and crucifix doily. I think the Moon is telling her secrets...or jokes?

These are based on the Sept, 98 paintings made to accompany the first anniversary of the Turtle Moon Studios web site. But they will help you party it up for any worthy celebration! There are hot pepper lights and a hot spicy cake, and St Q puts on her fave blue muu-muu, while she bops around with many affirmations and her cat!

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On the back I've written by hand on each card: "Saint Quilta the Comforter lets the good times roll, Honey!"

St Quilta as St Dymphna ©Susan Shie 1998.Order # S-6: "St. Quilta the Comforter Disguised as St. Dymphna."

This unusual saint card is the result of a special order, for a St. Dymphna card. Since I only do St. Quilta, it ended up as Q impersonating Dymphna, the patron saint of the mentally ill.

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On its back, I write, "St.Quilta the Comforter cleverly wears a St. Dymphan Get-Up."

St. Quilta Blesses Y2K. © Susan Shie 1999.Order # S-8: "St. Quilta the Comforter Blesses Y2K."

Start the millennium right, with lots of protective, earthy vibes from our own St. Q. She's got her grater, for shredding the evidence, her cute littel I-Mac for starting the new computer age with the proper equipment, and her darling Marigold, in happy pink and purple stripes! A tasteful muu-muu of gold polka dots on tomato red brings the buoyant energy one needs to blast into the future with panache!

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On the backs, I write, "Many blessings for the new millennium!"

St Quilta Blesses the Fish Widows. ©1999 Susan Shie.Order # S-9: "St. Quilta the Comforter Blesses The Fish Widows."

St. Quilta knows a lot of women, who are left behind by their well-meaning husbands, so that the gleeful male can follow the fish! This is an age old situation, for which there is little comfort, except for chocolate and various toys. St. Quilta feels our pain, and brings us much joy with her blessings.

These Saint Cards are 3 7/8" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On the backs, I write, "May the Fish Widows Have Lots of Fun!"

Miracle Worker ©Susan Shie 1998.

Order # M-1: "Miracle Worker."

This is a related card, of a Miracle Worker charm I'd made with embroidery and beading. It's slightly smaller, and has the message "Miracles happen for me now" hand written on the back, along with being signed, numbered, and dated.

The original quilted and beaded charm, that this card is made from, was ordered by Elizabeth Cherry Owen for a friend, for healing energy.

These are 3 1/8" x 4 1/8" plus the laminated edges.

St Quilta the Comforter Blesses Sagittarius ©Susan Shie 1998.Order # A-9: "St. Quilta Blesses Sagittarius."

Here is the first St. Quilta Astrology Blessing Card, for Sagittarius, Nov. 22 to Dec. 21. I numbered it "9", because Sag is the ninth sign, and eventually, a year from now, I'll have all 12 signs made into a set of paintings and these cards. For the unfamiliar, Aries is #1. Just ask one of them!!

As everyone knows, Saggies are very superstitious and will treasure this exotic beauty for its good luck qualities! Q tried to pose like a centaur, but the muu-muu kept hiding her excellent aquine stance. So I just gave her a bow and arrow, and she seemed happy. You can find my smarty description of Sag in the Paintings page, where you can also select a painting that this card is based on.

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On its back, I write, "St. Quilta blesses wild and crazy Sagittarius!"

St Q Blesses Capricorn ©Susan Shie 1999.Order # A-10: "St. Quilta Blesses Capricorn."

Here is the second St. Quilta Astrology Blessing Card, for Capricorn, Dec. 21-Jan. 19. I numbered it "10", because Capricorn is the tenth sign, and eventually, a year from now, I'll have all 12 signs made into a set of paintings and these cards. For the unfamiliar, Aries is #1. Just ask one of them!!

Capricorns are very serious about their lives, but they still need beauty and blessings! St Q put on her earthiest muu-muu for this image and grabbed her determined little mountain goat, who will reach the summit of her goals! You can find my esteemed description of Capricorn in the Paintings page, where you can also select a painting that this card is based on.

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On its back, I write, "St. Quilta blesses strong and practical Capricorn!"

St Q Blesses Aquarius #8 ©Susan Shie 1999.Order # A-11: "St. Quilta Blesses Aquarius."

Here is the third St. Quilta Astrology Blessing Card, for Aquarius, Jan 20 - Feb 18. I numbered it "11", because Aquarius is the eleventh sign, and eventually, a year from now, I'll have all 12 signs made into a set of paintings and these cards. For the unfamiliar, Aries is #1. Just ask one of them!!

Aquarians are really open minded folks. They like to go with the flow, and live a loose lifestyle, changing their ways to fit the mood. They are fluid! If you are really into computers or New Age stuff, chances are you have some strong Aquarius in your chart. They love friends, group causes, and weird stuff! You can find my esteemed description of Aquarius in the Paintings page, where you can also select a painting that this card is based on.

These Saint Cards are 3" x 4 7/8" plus the laminated edges. On its back, I write, "St. Quilta blesses radical and free Aquarius.
